From a young age Andy took an interest in investing. Some of Andy’s earliest memories of the stock market were as a young boy visiting grandparents in central North Dakota when his Grandfather would have the business channel on TV. Grandpa Lando would walk through the basics of what a stock was and why investing over time was important. Grandpa would tell Andy, “the stock market is the best way to grow your money over time, but it doesn’t grow all the time.” This is a message that has stuck with Andy for many years.
Away from the office, you will likely find Andy coaching one of his three daughters at a hockey arena. He and his wife Katie have 3 daughters, who are all very active in hockey, soccer, and lacrosse. Andy enjoys coaching his daughters and their friends; “it is a wonderful way to teach them about a special game, but more importantly there are so many life lessons that can be learned from team sports that they can carry with them in many aspects of life.” A youth sports highlight for the Vix family was in 2023 Riley and Reese’s team won the Minnesota State Hockey Championship, their younger sister Carly was the unofficial team mascot.
Andy and Katie will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in August of 2025. When they are able to get away and are not chasing kids they enjoy spending time on water in Minnesota summers, or a beach somewhere warm in the winter. Both have learned to appreciate the beauty of skiing out west. For Andy the beauty is in the slopes, but for Katie it is in the comfort of a chalet with a warm fire.
