Derek joined Advanced Financial in 2017 and has been a Financial Advisor since 2021. Focusing on strategies for families in the areas of individual financial planning, life insurance, health care, and business succession planning are top interests. The majority of clients are self-employed agriculturalists interested in long-term planning and risk management. As a team we work with multiple generations and offer strategies to bridge family generations together using the highest quality insurance vendors and utilizing the resources of Advanced Financial Consultants and one of the nation’s largest broker dealer networks. Education, honesty and integrity are of utmost importance to Derek, alongside an active involvement in his faith.
Derek was raised in Red Wing, MN and has lived in Rochester since 2015. Outside of work, travelling with his wife Rachelle and two children to explore and discover new places and people brings great joy. Live entertainment (concerts, sports, shows) are top of the list for things to do followed closely by a love of outdoor adventure activities. One of his favorite outdoor activities he was able to do in 2024 was climb Mt. Rainer in Washington with his brother. Derek is a huge fan of watching both the Seattle Seahawks and Minnesota Timberwolves.
